What is conversational UI?

Conversational UI is a friendly and engaging way to communicate with users.
Instead of showing them forms to fill out or searching inside your content, we can start up a conversation with them and help them reach the content they want or complete the task at hand.

How can we use conversational UI inside our products?

We can use conversational UI to help users get to the content they are looking for quickly.

We can use conversational UI to help users complete their tasks faster and more efficiently.

Why should we use it inside OCM for cluster creation?

OCM's cluster creation flow is challenging:

  • You have 24(!) installation options to choose from
  • Different options lead to the same solution (AI/IPI/UPI)
  • Commonly used installation methods are shown in the same hierarchy as those that are barely being used
  • Almost no explanation about the different installation methods is given (other than the cards for “Interactive”, “Automated”, and “Full control”)
  • No “recently used installation methods” is shown
  • The experience in general assumes that users are "shopping" for a cluster creation method and this way all the heavy lifting of knowing which installation method they should choose lands on their shoulders
  • Users come in with a specific need, but first-time users have no way of knowing what that need is.

To address those problems, We want to provide users with a new (optional) choice to help them find the cluster type they want.
