Consolidated Notifications

Author: Anastasia Ratti | Last edit: December 05, 2023 | Design type: Alerting, Notification drawer | Product area: Ansible

Consolidated Notifications

The Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) components (Automation Controller, Automation Hub, and Event-Driven Ansible Controller) are currently separated out and therefore so are their notifications. With consolidating AAP, we need a way to consolidate the disjointed and multi-serviced notifications so users can view and manage them. Consolidated notifications give the platform a single area to present notifications that span across the AAP components

Notifications Drawer

The masthead has the notification badge containing the notification bell icon and how many unread notifications it contains.

The color of the notification badge depends on the notifications and the status of the notifications drawer.

When the user clicks on the notification badge the notifications drawer opens showing collapsible headers grouped by notification type. When the drawer initially opens, by default the first collapsible header is expanded showing the notifications listed under it. Only one section can be opened at a time, as another section is expanded, the prior one collapses. From this drawer, the user can review the notifications, mark them as read, or click on the notification. Clicking on a notification will bring the user into context of the notification to view more details and take action if needed.

Notifications' Tabs

The notifications full page has the different notification types shown in separate tabs. The tabs contain a badge with how many unread notifications there are in each notification type. From here they can navigate between the different notification types to review and act on if an action is required.
